Junior Golf

The Westown Junior Golf Programme vision is to, while having fun, teach the values of sportsmanship, honesty, self-discipline, integrity and competitive spirit through the game of golf.

The Westown Junior Golf Programme is totally committed to promoting golf at all levels. We coach, encourage and assist juniors to play at a level that they are comfortable with and to ensure new players are admitted to the game of golf with a sound knowledge and understanding of the game, rules, and etiquette.

 With our commitment to junior golf, we intend to develop both productive citizens with strong values as well as top golfers, preparing them today to succeed and capitalise on future opportunities and in doing so, ensuring the long-term sustainable future for the Westown Golf Club.

The Westown Junior Golf Programme’s Goal is to become North Taranaki’s leading club for junior development within the next 5 years.

Westown Golf Clubs Junior programme caters for boys and girls aged 5 through to 18.

Kiwi Junior Golf Course Details - Purple Tees

Each term children will be graded on their ability and understanding of golf etiquette and then assigned to a specific group.

Groups have tailored programmes to help advance the participants up to the next level.

Green being the ultimate goal.

 

Subscriptions

Age Categories for Juniors are as at 01 JAN 

• Under 18: $180.00 ($300.00 for 2 siblings)
• Under 13: $100.00 ($160.00 for 2 siblings)

Subs can be paid by installments - please check with the club office for details.

Rules

• We arrive 10 minutes before start time and we bring a hat, drink, snack, shoes, and wear sun block.
• We all follow our volunteer coaches’ instructions for health and safety reasons.
• We avoid slow play and treat our well-manicured golf course with respect, we don’t litter.
• We don’t drag our feet, putter or the flag on the putting greens.
• We rake the bunkers after playing from them and we repair all divots and pitch marks.
• We don’t throw clubs or make unnecessary noise on the course.
• We don’t play until the group in front are out of range.

• We don’t stand too close to a person playing a shot.
• We stand quietly while a person is playing a shot.
• We respect all club members and follow the clubhouse dress code.
• We strive to understand the rules of golf and follow golf etiquette at all times.
